What is rekeying, and how is it different from replacing a lock?
Rekeying changes the pins inside the lock you already own so every old key stops working. The hardware stays on the door. It is faster than replacing a lock and it makes sense whenever the lock itself is in good shape and you simply want the old keys dead.
I just moved in. Should I rekey?
Yes. There is no way to know how many copies of your key are out there. Previous owners, agents, contractors, cleaners and dog walkers all tend to have one. Rekeying on day one is the cheapest security decision you will ever make.
Can you make all my doors open with one key?
Usually yes. If your locks share a compatible keyway we can key them alike in a single visit. If they do not, we can swap the cylinders so they do, and you keep the hardware you like.
Do you rekey high-security locks?
Yes. We are a Mul-T-Lock dealer and we rekey and re-pin high-security and restricted cylinders as well as standard ones. Restricted keyways need the registered owner to authorise the work.
What does rekeying cost?
It depends on how many locks you have and what type they are, so we quote rather than guess. Call 818-652-5269 or get a free quote and we will give you a real number.
